Media‘s military MAGA hat-signing obsession fueled by jealousy, hatred

By – The Washington Times – Friday, December 28, 2018

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Members of the mainstream media have been harping on President for signing MAGA hats brought by military troops he visited in and .

As if he were doing something shamefully wrong?

Truly, these critics have hit bottom-of-the-bucket for reasons to hate on .

“Love watching the #fakenews outrage about supposedly bringing #maga merchandise to to sign for troops stationed there. Turns out it was the troop’s own personal belongings that they had with them already! Wonder how many #imwithher hats there are in ?” mocked Donald Trump Jr. on Twitter.

He’s got that right. Which raises an interesting point: For the left, MAGA hats are a public relations nightmare.

They’re marketing gold. They’re eye-catching and brightly colored; they’re a product everybody loves, everybody buys, everybody gifts; they’re carrying a catchy message, which also happens to be the president’s signature phrase; they’re easy-peasy to transport and carry; and they say a ton in just a few letters.

What product do the Democrats have on their side that compares? A pink hat that sports female genitalia? Can’t really imagine the infantry-types of the Army pulling those out their pockets for the president to sign.

A chewing gum wrapper from secret smoker Barack Obama?

A bottle of Geritol from joltin’ Joe Biden?

A supply of Hillary Clinton’s favorite cough drops?

Who knows, maybe Beto O’Rourke will come up with a cap of his own in the coming months. Maybe a big floppy sombrero or something to make clear he’s not the whitey his birth name of Robert Francis would suggest. Even Vox : “The origin of O’Rourke’s Hispanic-sounding first name has been captured in almost every profile of the rising Democrat.”

Going for a rebrand, are we?

Texas Senate winner Ted Cruz’s campaign it, in an ad during the contest against O’Rourke: “If you are going to run in Texas, you can’t be a liberal man. I remember reading stories, liberal Robert wanted to fit in. So he changed his name to Beto and hid it with a grin.”

Compare all that to the bright red MAGA hat and you’ve got — nothing but red-faced liberals.

“CNN & others within the Fake News Universe were going wild about my signing MAGA hats for our military in and ,” wrote on Twitter. “If these brave young people ask me to sign their hat, I will sign. Can you imagine my saying NO?”

And that right there is why the left-leaners in the media have cried so loudly over this non-issue, over what really is and should be a non-story: They swung for a reason to criticize and came up short.

The message of the MAGA hats has not died as they’d hoped.

They have nothing to offer of similar substance and simplicity from their side, so they’re allowing their petty jealousies and hate to dominate.

Now watch the outcome from this media-generated circus — watch as the MAGA hat sales soar.
